Hitchhiking: Financing Your Way Abroad
Studying abroad is well worth the money and often does not cost much more than a typical semester. In many cases the financial aid you are currently receiving can apply towards study abroad. There is also a tremendous amount of aid available from other sources- the key is being flexible. You might want to go to Rome or Athens, but there is less scholarship money available for those popular places than for other locations. The trick to financial aid is starting early. Often application deadlines are set way before the study abroad program application deadline and decisions are made on a rolling admission basis. It pays to apply early! The University Honors College sponsors/co-sponsors study abroad trips every year. If you are not interested in one that is offered, the UHP will help support almost any four-credit program.
