Dr. Craig T Cobane

WKU Honors College Executive Director, Dr. Craig T. Cobane is known for three things: his passion for helping students achieve their dreams, his constant pursuit of knowledge, and his love for the X-Men, his two Pugs – Xerxes and Xenophon (named after a Persian King and a Greek warrior/author).

Dr. Cobane was born in Newfoundland, Canada and grew up in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. He spent a great deal of time fishing on Lake Michigan and at the age of 18 he earned a U.S. Coast Guard charter captain’s license enabling him to take people sport fishing on the Great Lakes.  After graduating with his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, Dr. Cobane went on to get his MA and Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Cincinnati. A world traveler and scholar on international relations, he has led a number of abroad trips with students, as well as having spent time in Israel and Afghanistan working on counterterrorism (the latter trip was during an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellowship at the Pentagon). Dr.Cobane came to WKU in 2005 and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science. Among other specialties, Dr. Cobane is extremely passionate about preparing students for prestigious national scholarships, study abroad, and helping students get the most out of their WKU experience. When he is not hard at work in the Honors Center, Dr. Cobane can be found reading books from his extensive science fiction collection, working out in the Preston Center, or spending time with Xerxes and Xenophon.
