- Car Wash -

Overall we made $98 at the car wash, but after donations from Econ professors, we raked in about $300.  The possibility of another car wash in the spring was mentioned if there is a need for fundraising for the trip.

- Econ Class Help List -

During Monday's meeting a list was passed around asking what past and current Econ classes students have/had, your name, major(s) and minor(s), and e-mail address. The goal is get a help link on the Econ Club website (http://www.wku.edu/Dept/Org/Student/EconClub/) so that if you need help with an Econ problem you can get in contact with another member to help figure things out.  If you weren't at the meeting please email your information to Eric Mudd (ericmudd_81@yahoo.com), our website designer.

- T-Shirts -

The consensus of members seemed to favor T-shirts over polo's.  The most popular idea so far is making a top 10 list of "why not to be an Econ major" or "why not to be an Economist" (for non-econ majors in the club).  We'd like to make the top 10 reasons specific to Western, such as "3. Because Dr. Pulsinelli will want to hold hands and sing Kumbaya."  We are asking for all Econ club members to try to come up with 1 or 2 reasons and e-mail them to Lisa Johnson (lisa.johnson@wku.edu), who's taking care of T-Shirts and pricing.

- Vandy Trip -

As I'm sure you've all noticed the e-mails about the trip to Vandy to visit the graduate economics program.  We'll be taking the trip on Friday the 18th.  Most likely this would be school excused, so ask your teacher if you want to go, but have to miss class to do so.  For those who do go, please dress up a little bit (Khaki's, button-up shirt, ect.).  In the past we've gone out to eat somewhere down in Nashville or gone shopping.  We do need to know who's going in advance, so please let Dr. Strow know if you plan on attending.

- Social Event -

Our next social is Wednesday, November 16th at 9PM.  Instead of a typical outing to Puerta's or going bowling, Paige Barnsfather is going to prepare a mystery dinner party.  You should have already received an e-mail with further details.  Please let Paige (ashley.barnsfather@wku.edu) know if you'll be able to attend!

- Spring Trip -

The cost of going to NYC is most likely going to cost over $100 more for each person, compared to visiting D.C. due to airfare.  Please think about this, and whether or not the pricing difference is going to have an affect on you going on the trip.  We'll need to eventually take a poll and find out what's going to work out best and make the most people happy.  Most people at the meeting seemed to still want to go to NYC.  Please e-mail Ashley (ashley.schonhoff@wku.edu) if you weren’t at the meeting and let her know which you would prefer considering cost.  If too many people won’t be able to go to NYC, we’ll probably pick D.C. instead.

- Fundraisers -

If you’re selling cheesecakes and would like a visual, Dr. Trawick has copies of what the look like in her office.  Don’t forget that those forms and money for cheesecakes are due this Friday!!  The calendars will be sold until they’re gone.  Please take the opportunity to sell calendars and cheesecakes to help raise money for the trip.  Remember, the more you sell, the more it directly helps with the cost of your trip expenses.

- Penny War -

On the 15th, 17th, and 18th the Econ club will be helping with United Way's Penny War to help raise money for Katrina victims.  Please look Enisa's e-mail from yesterday and see if you can help.  We'll probably need to get some creative people together to help design our jar and booth (maybe some fun posters).  For those who have no prior knowledge about the Penny Wars.  We'll have a booth setup at DUC and we'll be completing with other clubs, frats, and sororities to see who can get the most pennies in there jar.
