AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

 Dr. Myers' fields of interest include labor economics, retirement issues, gerontology, and urban and regional economics.   Courses taught by him at the undergraduate level include labor economics, urban and regional economics, economics of poverty and discrimination, principles of economics and microeconomics, and statistics.  Dr. Myers is a member of the graduate faculty and teaches graduate courses in labor and human resource economics and urban and regional economics.  His areas of current research include the examination of the causes behind regional income differentials, micro models of predicting poverty, and retirement decisions.

  

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

 Dr. Myers' publications include articles in the Journal of Risk and Insurance; the Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences; Demography; and The Gerontologist.  He has coauthored, with Richard Burkhauser of Syracuse University and Joe Quinn of Boston University, Passing the Torch: The Influence of Economic Incentives on Work and Retirement.   He has consulted with numerous local businesses concerning the economic impact those businesses have on the local and state economy.
