AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

 Dr. Lile specializes in applied research in the area of public finance and state-local taxation.   He has been a consultant in the area of taxation for several states, local governments, and businesses.   His current research interests lie in the area of the economics of organized religion.

  

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

 Dr. Lile has authored or coauthored over 40 articles including the following: "Interstate Differences in Family Tax Burdens," National Tax Journal; "The Property Tax Rate and Assessment Uniformity," National Tax Journal; "An Evaluation of the Turnover Tax as a Major Revenue Source for State Government," Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives; "Flat-Rate Income Tax: Evaluation of the Kentucky Proposal and Implications for Other States," MidSouth Journal of Economics and Finance; "Do State-Local Fiscal Choices Matter?" The Freeman; "Municipal Bonds and Tax Arbitrage: A Cointegration Analysis," Public Finance Review; and "An Empirical Analysis of SBC Churches in Kentucky," Kentucky Journal of Economics and Business; and "Religious Market Competition and Clergy Salary: Evidence from SBC Congregation in the South," (with M. Trawick) American Journal of Economics and Sociology.

Dr. Lile has been twice recognized as a recipient of the "Best Paper" award given by the Kentucky Economic Association.   He has served as past-president of the Kentucky Economic Association and editor of the Kentucky Journal of Economics and Business.
