AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Dr. Carey specializes in areas of industrial organization, including e-commerce economics and the economics of advertising, pricing, and promotion. Her current research interests are in the areas of e-commerce economics and the economics of collectibles. Other topics of interest include the use of instructional technologies, the economics of pyramid schemes, technology and trade, and the formation of trade associations. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in topics of industrial organization, international trade, mathematical economics and principles of economics.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

 Dr. Carey has published in the areas of advertising, international trade, foreign direct investment, collectibles, and new learning technologies. She is the current editor of the Journal of Applied Economics and Policy. She presents original research at regional and national conferences; regularly reviews articles for professional journals; has served on a grant proposal review panel for the National Science Foundation; is on the editorial board of the Southern Business and Economics Journal, and is a past Kentucky Economic Association President. In addition, she currently serves as a co-advisor to WKU’s chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma and serves on the Graduate Council and the Technology Advisory Council. Dr. Carey is also a member of Golden Key National Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and various professional associations. She recently won the Vitale Award for Initiative, Innovation, and Leadership. *
