Since Spring, 2002, CFS has produced the Scholar of the College eight times, five of them consecutively. The consistently high standards set by the department keep the students competitive not only for awards and scholarships from the university and industry, but also in the job market.

CFS contains majors that are the 1st- and 3rd-largest employers world wide: Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management and Textiles and Apparel Merchandising, respectively. CFS trains more Kentucky Family and Consumer Sciences Educators than any other Kentucky university.
