Fashion Inc., the student organization of Design, Merchandising and Textiles (DMT) hosted a spring fashion show at the Kentucky Building on Western’s campus.  The Garden of Garment Fashion Show showcased senior DMT students’ apparel designs and creativity. A total of 29 garments graced the runway full of color, flare and creativity.   In addition to the fashion show was the Still Gallery exhibit. Displayed in the gallery were several apparel designs and a number of students’ mood and concept boards created using Photoshop.  Electronic design portfolios, which are digital collections of DMT students’ design work created specifically to demonstrate individual talent, were displayed via laptop stations throughout the still gallery.

The student designers for the show included DMT seniors: Amanda DeArmond, Misty Ferguson, Rachel Hall, Katie Nordhoff, Tonie Tran, and Lacey Vanderveen. Vintage pieces appearing in the show represented garments constructed by alumni when they were students at Western.
The Garden of Garments Fashion Show was completely student produced. Several donations in support of the show were obtained from Crossland Community Church, Logan’s Roadhouse, Dillard’s (cosmetics), Sonic Drive-In, Fern Runners, Country Oven Bakery, Wal-Mart, and Panache Salon and Spa. Partial funding for the show was provided by the WKU Student Government Association.
