Department of Mathematics Position Announcement The Department of Mathematics at Western Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics Education starting August 2007 at the Assistant Professor level. The department is strongly committed to building outstanding undergraduate and graduate mathematics education programs. Qualifications: A Doctorate in Mathematics Education with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate-level mathematics courses is required. The successful candidate must show potential for excellence in teaching and for research in mathematics education. A commitment to outreach in K-12 schools and effective communication skills are required. Teaching experience in grades K-12 and experience in web-based learning are desirable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses for preservice and inservice teachers. S/he will help revise and/or develop undergraduate and graduate courses for teachers and be active in mathematics education research and grant writing.
