Position Announcement

The Mathematics Department at Western Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level beginning August 15, 2007. The position is designated for a person with a strong background in probability and statistics. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in mathematics , in statistics, or in a related discipline by the time of the appointment, and salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. The normal teaching load is 9 credit hours per semester. Candidates should exhibit enthusiasm and a strong commitment to teaching at all levels of undergraduate and graduate mathematics and statistics, directing undergraduate research projects and master ’s-level theses, and contributing to the department and university service missions. Faculty also are expected to continue a program of high-quality research and scholarly activity.

Western Kentucky University is a comprehensive state-supported institution in Bowling Green, KY, an urban area of about 60,000 people , located about 65 miles north of Nashville, TN. The university has an enrollment of over 18,000 students with more than 600 faculty members. The Mathematics Department offers both bachelor ’s and master ’s degrees, each with mathematics and mathematics education options.
