About the Chemistry Club
The Chemistry Club, a student affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society, is a professional organization explicitly designed for students. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in chemistry. You do not need to major or minor in chemistry to be a member.
Our activities include but are not limited to fundraising (Relay for life, sales of safety goggles, T-shirts, molecular model kits and study guides at TCCW 426), outreach (chemistry “magic shows”, liquid nitrogen ice cream, etc.), service (Science Olympiad volunteers, charitable activities), and professional development (Visiting research universities, presenting research and/or demonstrations at regional or national meetings, holding workshops).
We hope that you would please drop by at a meeting or activity because we would love to have you.
How to become a Chemistry Club member
Joining the Chemistry Club is very simple. All it requires is for a student to show up at the club meetings, which are held twice a month, and to participate in club activities. We also have an electronic mailing list established so that all members can be informed of current events and activities with short notice. There are no dues for joining the chemistry club; however, we strongly encourage interested students to become a student affiliate of the American Chemical Society. This costs ~$20 a year and includes all of the benefits of being a full member of the ACS. For more information, visit http://www.chemistry.org/ (the ACS web site).
To subscribe to the Chemistry Club mailing list, send an e-mail to our chemistry club president and ask to be added to the chemistry club mailing list. You do not have to be a Chemistry Club member to be on the mailing list. If you are merely interested in our activities, you may sign up for the mailing list so that you will be informed, but we'd wish everyone, if possible, to be an active member. Emails will be sent out every so often to those on the mailing list to keep everyone completely informed of the club's agenda.
