General information for the student:
This pre-application is intended to help the student and the Department of Modern Languages decide whether an anticipated internship is appropriate for the department internship course.

Course description of FREN/GERM/SPAN 389:

• Prerequisites: One 300-level FREN/GERM/SPAN course or the equivalent, and permission of instructor
• Supervised work using French/German/Spanish in a professional setting.  Open only to French/German/Spanish majors and minors

Please note: The faculty members of the Department of Modern Languages expect that the student will use the target language all or nearly all of the time.  They also interpret the phrase “a professional setting” in the course description to mean a professional setting related to the student’s career and academic world language goals.

• For a January or spring semester internship, by two weeks before the last day of classes in fall semester.
• For a summer internship, by two weeks before the last day of classes in spring semester.
• For a fall semester internship, by two weeks before fall classes begin.
