HISTORY COURSES--A Brief Guide
Honors
Courses and New Courses: Every semester the History Department
offers at least two advanced courses for honors History majors.
Periodically, the faculty will also offer new courses, either as special
topics courses (History 490 and 491) or as new catalog offerings.
These courses are usually not listed separately in the WKU course
catalog, but they appear in the Class Bulletin each term and new
course descriptions may also by read on the website.
ITV Courses: Since
1989, the Department of History has been offering graduate and undergraduate
courses via interactive television. The majority of our regular course
offerings can be taken by ITV. Undergraduate courses are offered on
weekdays and both graduate and undergraduate classes are offered on
weeknights. (Graduate classes are also scheduled during the day in
summer sessions.) Courses are offered at WKU off-campus sites in Owensboro,
Glasgow, and Ft. Knox, and also at Taylor County High School, Russell
County High School, Elizabethtown High School and Clinton County High
School. For further information please email
the Department or write
to us.
Web Courses: Starting
in 1999, the History Department began to develop courses which were
partially or wholly web-based. In the near future, the Department
offers these courses to all Western students and through the Commonwealth
Virtual University to all students in Kentucky. Consult
the new
courses page for more information on current offerings.
