Program Goals (317)

The Asian Studies Minor focuses on the civilizations and societies in East Asia (China and Japan) and South Asia (India and Pakistan). The program has the following goals:

  • To introduce the history and culture of Asian societies.
  • To enable students to view international and intercultural issues from different perspectives.
  • To understand the political, social, economic, and religious issues faced by modern Asian countries.
  • To illustrate the interdependence among geographical areas of the world.
  • To foster respect and tolerance for human diversity.
