Study Abroad Opportunities at WKU

As one aspect of the university's efforts to provide an internationalized educational environment, Western offers students a wide array of opportunities to study, travel, and learn abroad. These include programs offered through Western's inter-institutional exchange agreements and those offered through consortia arrangements with other US universities.

Western directly offers opportunities in:

  • Japan, at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, for semester or year-long study
  • China, at Beijing Normal University, Southeast China University and others, for summer or semester study
  • Nepal, at Kathmandu University, for summer or semester study

Through the CCSA (Cooperative Center for Study Abroad) consortium, Western currently offers programs in:

  • Hong Kong, for summer study

Through the KIIS (Kentucky Institute for International Studies) consortium, Western currently offers programs in:

  • China, in Kunming and Beijing, for summer study
  • Japan, in Toyota, Nagoya, for summer study
