231 GRAPHIC DESIGN. 3 HOURS.
Prerequisite: ART 230.
This course teaches the fundamentals of applied visual communication in
graphic design projects. (on demand)
 
243 DIGITAL MEDIA
Prerequisite: ART 130, ART 140
Introduction to the use of digital media in the arts through basic investigation of current computer technologies.
 
330 GRAPHIC DESIGN. 3 HOURS.
Prerequisites: ART 231, junior standing.
While the course uses elements to create forms for public viewing and also
emphasizes the use of the student's experience gained in other studio areas,
its primary concern is to strengthen the student's aesthetic awareness
in graphic design. (every semester)
 
331 VISUAL THINKING. 3 HOURS
Prerequisites: ART 230
Focuses on the process of literal thinking and the visualization of design problems and their solutions. Emphasizes effective research, imagination, originality and execution in various media. (spring semester)
 
334 GRAPHIC DESIGN SURVEY. 3 HOURS
Prerequisites: ART SURVEY 105 and 106; Art 231; or permission of instructor
Investigates the evolution of graphic design from pre-historic visual communications through the computer graphics revolution. (fall semester)
 
343 DIGITAL MEDIA: TIME-BASED
Prerequisite: ART 243
A new course for Exploration of time-based and Experimental Digital Art, including computer animation,interactive multimedia, Video, and emerging applications of computer art in visual art.
 
430 GRAPHIC DESIGN. 3 HOURS.
Prerequisites: ART 330, and a portfolio of graphic designs acceptable
to the instructor.
A studio course to synthesize the student's previously acquired technical
ability and aesthetic awareness into a finished graphic design comprehensive
of professional caliber. (every semester)
 
431 ILLUSTRATION. 3 HOURS.
Prerequisite: ART 330.
This course stresses the application of various graphic media and techniques
to solve problems in illustration. (fall)
 
432 PORTFOLIO. 3 HOURS.
Prerequisite: ART 431.
This course is designed to inform and to guide the student in assembling a
portfolio for professional presentation. (spring)
 
433 PACKAGE DESIGN. 3 HOURS.
Prerequisite: ART 430 or approval of instructor.
Techniques and aesthetics of package design. (on demand)
 
436 ELECTRONIC ILLUSTRATION. 3 HOURS.
Prerequisite: ART 431 and ART 435.
Provides advanced instruction in popular computer illustration programs such as Adobe Illustrator and MacroMedia Freehand for students preparing for careers in graphic design. Limited enrollment. (every other semester)
 
438 ADVANCED COMPUTER GRAPHICS. 3 HOURS.
Prerequisites: ART 430, 435.
Combines artwork and graphic design using the computer to compose printed
matter. (every semester)
