The painting program provides a creative and dynamic environment intended to foster growth in the artistic abilities for students from beginning levels to intermediate and advanced, culminating in an intensive senior year practicum. With an emphasis on individual formal and conceptual development using historical and contemporary strategies, the overarching goal is for each emerging artist to forge a personal and sustainable studio practice.

The painting studio is a well-equipped, large and ventilated space with skylights. An adjacent room holds power tools and has workspace for building stretchers, preparing canvases and conducting critiques. Advanced painting majors receive their own, semi-private studio spaces
