About Us
True to the Western Spirit, Continuing Education seeks to offer quality educational programs that meet the needs of individuals, companies and professional organizations in the South Central Region and throughout the state of Kentucky.
Our courses are open enrollment and noncredit (no admission tests or other educational requirements) and are therefore the perfect choice for individuals or companies who need to enhance skills or want to broaden their horizons. Courses are available on-line or in a traditional "hands on" learning format. In fact, we offer over 100 on-line courses that can be taken from home or office according to each individual's schedule!
The Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO) units extend WKU resources to Kentucky and beyond. Let us help you solve your particular educational program and service needs!

Staff Leadership Institute
The Staff Leadership Institute seeks to enhance job performance, personal development skills, and challenge the spirit of each individual who participates. Sponsored by the Staff Council and Human Resources and coordinated by the Continuing Education office, this annual program is open to any staff member of Western Kentucky University.

Human Resource Management
Two programs are offered each year in cooperation with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM):- The SHRM Learning System
- The Essentials of Human Resource Management
The SHRM Learning System is designed as a preparation course for the PHR or SPHR Certification. The Essentials of Human Resource Management (EHRM) course is designed to enhance the knowledge of human resource basics for new human resource professionals or professionals who are taking on more responsibilities within the human resource field.
