As a member of the Parents' Advisory Council, you will formulate ideas and programs that will further integrate the entire family into the Western Experience.
Group Tasks
1. Assist in the planning of
an annual Parents' Weekend.
2. Assist in the development of a comprehensive plan to involve
parents in student life.
3. Establish a career-mentoring network for students.
4. Assist in regional student recruitment.
5. Identify funding needs that may be met through the utilization
of contributions to the Parents' Fund.
6. Develop a mechanism for gaining broad-based parent feedback.
Individual Tasks
1. Attend biannual meetings
of the Council.
2. Attend annual regional recruitment nights.
3. Serve on one standing committee.
Standing Committees
Each council member will serve
on one committee during the term of service. At the commencement
of one's term, each person will be assigned a committee. As possible,
assignments will be made based upon interest. Each committee will
meet as deemed necessary by the committee chair, but all committees
will meet during the regularly scheduled biannual meetings. If
deemed necessary by a vote of a majority of the Council, an Ad-Hoc
committee may be formed to serve for the duration of need of service.
Those who serve on an Ad-Hoc committee will be relieved of duty
on their normal committee until the completion of the special
project.

-Parents' Weekend, regional training events, etc.
2. Fund-raising
-Letter writing, peer solicitation, identification of needs, etc.
3. Parent Outreach
-Parents' hotline, newsletters, etc.
