The Applied Physics Institute was established at
Western Kentucky University (WKU) in 1994
as a team of professors, engineers and student researchers that perform basic and applied research in diverse areas.
The Applied Physics Institute is a multidisciplinary center performing
research and development projects in nuclear physics,
nuclear engineering, material science, electronics, wireless data communication,
and homeland security. API researcher's interests cover virtually all aspects of applied science and technology.
Recognized by the University as a Program of Distinction, the institute is located in Bowling Green, KY,
at the Center for Research and Development
and has been part of the
Applied Research and Technology Program since 1998.
The Applied Physics Institute is supported by federal and state grants, and contracts.
