Sample of Student Work

Kelley Our school should have uniforms instead of the strict dress code. Teachers give DMs all the time for violations of the dress code. Do you ever wonder if teachers get sick of handing out DMs, especially if their mission is to teach and not to be hall monitors? Myself, I know what it's like to have to buy clothes that fit the dress standard. Having to buy shorts that are two inches above the knee, for girls, is quite hard to do these days. Our society has made it difficult to find the required covering. Not only the students and faculty get sick of the dress code, but also the parents. They are the ones that have to put out the majority of the money to buy their children's clothes, and the inconvenience of having to abide by the regulations of the dress code becomes a pain. Some teachers have their own opinions on what the dress code really means. Most teachers let things go if it's not bad (ex. tucking in your shirt) while others simply take it too far as writing up every student if they are (aren't) fit to the guidelines. Special students get by with violations because they have prominence, which if we were to go to uniforms everyone would look the same and we could eliminate all the time the dress code issues take up. I mean, we are there to learn, aren't we? |
Too many students spend too much time on planning out their attire for school days, rather than focusing on their schoolwork. More time should be spent on schoolwork rather than worrying about what will fit into the dress regulations. I'm sure all students' grades would improve if we were to go to uniforms and everyone wasn't trying to make a fashion statement. Hopefully, hearing my views on our dress code, being changed to uniforms, will change people's views on the issue as well. |
