Symmetry is kind of hard for me. because the shapes and the way they turn them confuses me. Symmetry is a figure created by a shape and its reflection.

Sample B
I don't remember alot about symmetry

Sample C
Symmetry is a figure created by a shape and its reflection.  You also reflect, translate, and rotate in symmetry.

Sample D
They all have to do with different shapes and they are differnt because one has to do with horizontally, vertically or both, another has to do with turning shape or a shape being flipped over.

Sample E
Symmetry has something to do with angles.

Sample F
It's about when like a square, and you can fold it and cut it diagonally. so you can cut it and it will be equal and even.

Teacher Comments
My eighth grade math students had studied transformations and symmetry extensively in 6th and 7th grades.  This question was used about one month before the CATS window to help me assess how I should structure my review of this material.  From the responses, it was apparent that most students had some memory of the concepts in this unit, but many were unclear or confused about the specifics.  The student responses led to a week-long unit where vocabulary and applications were reviewed and discussed.
