The thermal analysis laboratory or the TA lab. as it is
affectionately known is one of the premier laboratories, here at the
Chemistry Department. The lab is under the direction of Dr.Wei-Ping Pan. It has been around for
nearly a decade, providing valuable assistance to industry and academia alike.
Thermal analysis is essentially a materials characterisation
technique. It provides information on thermal stability, oxidative stability
and thermal history of the material based on studies related to weight loss,
heat evolved and dimensional changes. The technique has myraid applications
in quality control.
Though primarily interested in energy research, the talents of the
people
here expand into the field of polymeric materials, catalyst studies and much
more.
