TEXT:  Thomas'  CALCULUS  Early Transcendentals, by Weir / Hass / Giordano (11th edition).

CLASS ATTENDANCE:  Students are expected to be punctual in attending each and every class meeting (in full) as scheduled.  The policy regarding absences is as follows: (a)  ALL ABSENCES (failures to attend--in full--a class meeting) ARE UNEXCUSED unless verifiable documentation, which bears the signature of an admissible service firm official, is submitted (in behalf of the student) within FIVE school days of the class absence.  ONLY upon proper receipt of such information shall an absence become subject for review;  (b) Each time a student accumulates a block of three (3) absences -- REGARDLESS OF THE REASONS -- the Attendance will be notified; (c)  When a student accumulates TEN (10)  absences WHETHER EXCUSED OR NOT, the student will RECEIVE A COURSE GRADE OF "F" (except in the unlikely event of a lengthy illness, or similar tragedy); (d)  Habitual tardiness WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Such student will receive a course grade of "F".

HOUR EXAMS:  FOUR 100-point exams are planned for this course.  These will be given approximately 4 weeks apart.  (NOTE:  In the unlikely event that only three exams are given, the final course grades will be based on these three one-hour exams); FINAL EXAM:  the LAST 100-point exam will serve as the FINAL, and will be given during the final exam period.  It will be a comprehensive exam.

MAKE-UP EXAM POLICY:  (a) Unexcused -- NO make-up will be given, and a score of "0" will be recorded; (b)  Excused -- the FINAL EXAM SCORE will be substituted for the exam missed; (c)  If a student misses more than ONE of the hour exams, then that student will RECEIVE A COURSE GRADE OF "F".

GRADING SCALE:          A = 90's or 100               C = 70's
                                          B = 80's                           D = 50's or 60's               F = Below 50

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  Prerequisites:  Grade of  "C or better"  in Math 126.  MATH-227 is a continuation of MATH-126; it is the second course in calculus for majors and minors in mathematics or for other areas allied with the mathematical sciences.  The course topics for MATH-227 shall be chosen from CHAPTERS:  06 through 11.

CAUTION:  Your final course grade in this course is based ENTIRELY and ONLY on the results of the four 100-point exams mentioned above.  There is ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER WAY to earn points!!!
