Peter Lax (Courant Institute) Integration by Parts Peter Lax has made numerous contributions to several areas of mathematics, including integrable systems, fluid dynamics, conservation laws, and scientific computing, to name just a few. He was the 2005 Abel Prize winner, and won the Wolf Prize in 1987 and the National Medal of Science in 1985. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Jonathan Wellons (Vanderbilt University) How Big Can You Think? "Numbers simple to describe, impossible to imagine" Jonathan Wellons¡¯s interests are in Linear Programming, Optimization, Wireless Mesh Network Routing, Traffic Engineering, Operations Research, Algorithms, Number Theory and Recreational Mathematics. He has authored several papers in mathematics and computer science. Many 20 minute talks will be given on mathematics and related topics. The talks can be expository, historical, research related, or education related. Student presentations are especially welcome. We have funds for student travel!
