An introductory course for those persons interested in providing services for infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children, both with and without disabilities, and their families. Practical experiences provided in a field setting; students are responsible for providing their own transportation.

CFS 194/294 Assessment of Young Children

Prerequisites: CFS 191 and CFS 192; major in IECE or instructor's permission.

Overview of the assessment process, preliminary assessment skills, and using assessment results in planning for guidance/instruction of young children. Roles of the family in the assessment process emphasized. Practical experiences provided in a field setting; students are responsible for arranging their own transportation.

CFS 291 Administration of Early Childhood Programs
Syllabus
Pre-requisites: CFS 191, 192, 193 (Beginning Fall 2005, 193 was replaced by CFS 295 and 296), and 194/294 (beginning Fall 2005, CFS 194 was replaced by 294) or equivalent coursework. Minimum of three years of experience with young children and families in early childhood programs.

Principles and practices in organization and management of developmentally appropriate early childhood programs. Includes managing physical, personnel, fiscal, curricular, agency, community, and family resources. At least 12 field-based hours will be required in addition to regular course meetings. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation.
